Tips & Strategies
Think about impressions that everyone in the group will recognize, like celebrities, professors, or mutual friends. Avoid overly obscure references unless you're sure your group will get them, or you'll end up drinking a lot. Watch out for accidental giveaways, like saying the person's name or quoting something too specific. If someone is struggling to guess, exaggerate the impression instead of giving verbal hints,it's more in the spirit of the game.
Variations
Lightning Round: Set a timer for 30 seconds per turn. If nobody guesses the impression in time, the performer takes a penalty drink.. Voice Only: Players can only use their voices, no body language or gestures allowed. This makes impressions way harder and funnier.. Guess and Steal: If a player guesses correctly, they get to assign their earned drink to another player of their choice, rather than the performer deciding.
Frequently Asked Questions
- What counts as a 'successful' guess in Impressions?
- A guess counts as successful if the performer confirms the answer. The performer must be honest,if the guess is close but not exact, they can clarify and still award the drink.
- What happens if nobody can guess the impression?
- If nobody guesses the impression, the performer takes a drink as a penalty and their turn ends. It keeps the game moving and avoids endless guessing rounds.
- Can you impersonate someone from the group?
- Yes, impersonating someone in the group is fair game and usually hilarious, but keep it lighthearted. If your group agrees, you might even make impersonating someone at the table an automatic double-drink rule.
- Can players pass on their turn if they don’t know any good impressions?
- No, passing isn't allowed. If someone can't think of an impression, they must either make one up on the spot or take a penalty drink and let the next player go.
