Setup
Have everyone stand in a tight circle and hold one hand out to grab someone else's hand across the circle. With the free hand, grab a different person's hand, this will form the human knot. Keep drinks within reach, as you'll need them every minute while untangling. Make sure everyone has a full drink before starting because refilling mid-game is tough.

Tips & Strategies
Communication is key. Call out which hand you're moving and make sure everyone knows whose hands are connected before anyone steps over or under. Bend your knees or crouch if someone needs to duck, you'll untangle faster with physical flexibility. If you're stuck, try rotating the entire group in one direction while keeping hands locked; this can sometimes reveal the next move. Watch the clock, because every minute means another drink, and forgetting this rule leads to chaos.
Variations

Frequently Asked Questions
- What happens if someone accidentally lets go of a hand?
- The person who lets go must take a penalty drink, and the group resets back to their previous knot position before continuing.
- Can we play with fewer than six people?
- Yes, but the knot is less complex with fewer players, making it easier to untangle. If you're playing with fewer people, drink every 45 seconds instead of every minute to keep the challenge alive.
- What if the knot is impossible to untangle?
- If the group unanimously agrees the knot can't be solved, everyone finishes their drink as per the 'failure' rule.
- Does the person who untangles the knot first win anything?
- No individual wins, the success rule requires everyone who didn't contribute to untangling (the 'losers') to drink, so teamwork matters more than individual effort.
